Where-Broward high schools (Pompano Beach High,Cypress Bay, Everglades High,Miramar High, and Hallandale High)
When-The beginning of this school year (August 2007)
Why-To make freshman feel more comfortable as they enter a new school, and to try and improve drop out rates.
How-Schools are splitting the freshman into seperate “teams” so they are able to get to know each other better, and develop strong friendships. Other schools are also having them choose majors, to get them thinking toward college and their possible interests.
Lead-This August, Broward high schools welcomed freshman in new ways; helping them transition smoothly into school, hoping to potentially lower drop out rates.
